Meet the Team

We’re a friendly bunch of mortgage and protection advisers. You can read about each of our team members below.

David Grimshaw CeMAP CeRER
Managing Director

I founded Exe Mortgages in 2012 after four years as a self-employed consultant with a local IFA firm. I haven’t always worked in finance, but I decided on a career change in 2007 and qualified as a mortgage broker. I love helping people get the mortgage they need to realise their dreams, so I haven’t looked back since! While my previous experience was very different – working in the management team for four-star hotels within the Brend Hotel Group, my customer service skills have proved helpful when it comes to client satisfaction.

I help a wide variety of clients, from first-time buyers to families looking for a larger property and retirees wanting to downsize. I often handle the trickier cases but relish the challenge of solving a problem. I won’t rest until I get my clients the mortgage they need.

When I’m not in the office or meeting clients, I’m very much a family man and love spending time with my wife and children. I also like to fit in the occasional game of golf!

CeMAP CertPFS Cert CII (MP & ER)
Senior Mortgage, Equity Release & Protection Consultant

After nearly three decades in financial services, including years managing building society and high street bank branches, I’ve learned that it all comes down to people. I pride myself on being approachable and trustworthy, and I really value getting to know each client and their individual needs. No two situations are ever the same, which is what makes my work so interesting and rewarding. Building that personal connection is the most important thing to me.

I represent Exe Mortgages, where there’s a fantastic team and a wealth of knowledge. Being self-employed gives me the freedom to focus on what matters most. Away from work, my husband and our two grown-up sons keep me busy, often exploring the outdoors through walks, runs, or watching sports. I also make time for strength and conditioning at the gym and love socialising with friends, especially if there’s live music and a good wine involved!

Richard Green CeMAP CeRER
Mortgage, Equity Release & Protection Consultant

I started my working life in retail, firstly sales and then management in both Currys and Comet and then as a manager for Aldi.

I began my financial career in 1999 working for a large specialist broker before becoming a fully-fledged mortgage advisor in the corporate estate agency world. From there I changed to banking and worked for The Co-operative Bank for 11 years in branch and risk management.

In 2017 I decided to return to the mortgage sector and in 2022 I joined the team at Exe Mortgages.  Following a chat with David, we realised we share the same values and ideas on what good mortgage advice looks like and the working practices and ethics needed to provide it.

I particularly enjoy a good handhold, whether its first-time buyers excited about the initial step on the ladder, or those further up that ladder looking at later-life lending as a way to stay in their homes or to generate some extra income. It’s seeing these through from the beginning to the completion at the end that gives me that warm fuzzy “I’ve helped someone today” feeling.

I live in St Austell but help clients from all over the country, as well as those closer to home and those I’ve helped before.

Outside of work I have a wife and daughter as well as a large and very energetic Golden Retriever, Winston. We love walking and exploring the local area, as well as meeting up with lots of Winston’s friends. We’ll more often than not be found on or near a beach in either flipflops or wellies. My daughter is a keen runner and a lot of my time is spent following her around the country to various competitions, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Emma Foley CeMAP CertPRO
Mortgage & Protection Consultant

My career journey began at Finlake in South Devon, followed by managing over 100 luxury holiday lets at Blue Chip. Eager to work for a smaller company and shift my career direction, I began as an administrator at Exe Mortgages in January 2020. My dedication and versatility quickly led to my promotion to Office Manager.

Now, as a Mortgage Consultant, I bring my extensive experience and passion for helping people to the forefront. I love providing personalised, client-focused advice to ensure everyone finds the best mortgage options for their unique needs. My journey from administrator to office manager has equipped me with a deep understanding of the industry and a commitment to helping clients achieve their financial goals.

Outside of the office, I keep busy by exploring new places, going on adventures, helping my fiancé on the farm which is sheep and arable or cheering for Wales & Exeter Chiefs in rugby. As a big foodie, I also enjoy socialising with friends and family over a nice meal and a good gin.

George Moore CeMAP CeRER
Mortgage & Protection Consultant

I feel grateful to have lived in the Axe Valley all my life and worked in and around East Devon, South Somerset and West Dorset.

I was educated at Colyton Grammar and The Woodroffe School in Lyme Regis, then my working life started at Ledger Scaffolding, working with friends and family. After 22 years I wanted a change, my shoulders and back needed one too!

I have always had an interest in the property industry and In 2022 I qualified as a Mortgage Adviser, and approached David where I was welcomed into the lovely and encouraging team here at Exe Mortgages. Helping people get their foot on the first rung of the property ladder is equally as satisfying as helping a seasoned property owner or investor.

I am friendly and easy to talk to, building rapport with people from all walks of life, every day is different which I adapt to well. Challenges keep me motivated and I take pride in responding quickly, confidently and confidentially to clients.

Free time is spent exploring the coastline and countryside with my young family and dog. Running with my local club has replaced my lifetime love of playing football. Managing to complete The Grizzly Run was my highpoint of 2025 so far!

James Gregory CeMAP

I’ve been part of the financial services sector since 1988, dedicating my career to helping individuals and families make confident financial decisions.  I started in banking before specialising in mortgage advice, and since 2016, I’ve been offering whole of market independent advice.

My goal is to provide clear, reliable tailored advice.  I find it incredibly rewarding to guide people through their mortgage journey, whatever their circumstances.  There’s a mortgage out there for just about everyone!

With the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) and several other financial qualifications, I ensure that my advice is both informed and appropriate for every situation.

Outside of work, I enjoy the fun and frustration of the golf course, socialising with friends and the great outdoors.

Georgia West
Administrator

I’m originally from Tiverton and have a background in admin and recruitment both in the town and in Exeter. I joined Exe Mortgages in June 2022 after seeing the opportunity online.

My role, which I share with Sophie, includes taking calls, managing emails & greeting clients who come to the office. I speak with lenders and solicitors, chase updates and check documents for accuracy, which is really important.

I really like the people I work with, it’s a relaxed work atmosphere and everyone gets on very well. The working hours are great which is important for me with young children. At home I’m into my fitness and like to fit in time for a run between finishing work and collecting my daughter from nursery.

I enjoy walking and going to the beach – and my family is very important to me, there are lots of us which I love!
